NanopartículasLa word “nanotechnology” is used extensively to define the science and techniques applied to a nanoscale level, that is extremely small measures “nanites” that can work and manipulate the atoms and their molecular structures. In short we take the possibility of producing materials and machines from the rearrangement of atoms and molecules. The development of this discipline is based on proposals of Richard Feynman (outline – history of nanotechnology).

The best definition of nanotechnology that we have found is this: Nanotechnology is the study, design, creation, synthesis, manipulation and application of materials, functional devices and systems through control of matter at the nano scale, and the exploitation of phenomena and properties of matter at the nano scale. nanotechnology-kd-0011

When handling the matter so minuscule scale of atoms and molecules, shows entirely new phenomena and properties. Therefore, scientists use nanotechnology to create materials, devices and systems with innovative and inexpensive unique properties

We are interested in, rather than its concept, which is potentially within the set of current research and applications whose purpose is to create new structures and products that have a large impact on industry, medicine (nanomedicine), etc. ..

nanoparticulasEsta new structures with atomic precision, such as carbon nanotubes, or small instruments inside the human body can be incorporated into a new era, as stated by Charles Vest (former president of MIT). Advances in nanotechnology protagonizarían this knowledge society with a multitude of developments with a great impact on their social and instrumentation business.

Nanoscience is linked in large measure from the 80′s with Drexler and his contributions to “molecular nanotechnology”, ie the construction of nanomachines made of atoms that are themselves able to build other molecular components. Since then Eric Drexler (personal webpage) is considered one of the most visionary on this issue. Already in 1986, in his book “Engines of Creation” made the promises and perils of molecular manipulation. Currently chairs the Foresight Institute.

nanotubosEl father of “nanoscience” is considered to Richard Feynman, Nobel Laureate in Physics, who in 1959 proposed to manufacture products based on a rearrangement of atoms and molecules. In 1959, the great physicist who wrote an article analyzing how computers work with individual atoms may consume very little energy and amazing speeds.

There is a strong consensus that nanotechnology will lead to a second industrial revolution in the twenty-first century as announced a few years ago, Charles Vest (former president of MIT).

nanotubosSupondra many advances in many industries and new materials with extraordinary properties (developing materials stronger than steel but with only ten percent weight), new software components unbelievably faster or molecular sensors capable of detecting and destroying cancer cells in dedlicadas parts of the human body as the brain, among many other applications.

We can say that much progress in nanoscience will be among the technological breakthroughs that will change the world.
